Inner Silence - Taking Time to be Still
C.S. Lewis made a very perceptive comment in his book "Perlandra". He stated: "Inner silence is for our race a difficult achievement. There is a chattering part of the mind which continues, until it is corrected, to chatter on even in the holiest places."
At times we may wonder "Where is God? Why had He left me alone?" I think the answer to that lies in the suggestion above. Sometimes our personal chattering, noise, tv, radio, confusion -- drowns out the fact that God is there and always has been there. But in order to hear Him, we must take time to be still and listen to "the still small voice."
